Capivasertib, a leading targeted inhibitor of the cancer-driving protein AKT (also known as PKB), has emerged as a crucial player in the fight against breast cancer. Those given the gene-drug combo could expect to live for 39 months, compared to 20 months for the control group, which received hormone therapy and a placebo.
