The Delhi Police personnel apart from performing their duties for the nation amid the coronavirus pandemic, have now turned lifesavers for hundreds of Covid-19 positive patients by donating plasma.
In these hard times, Delhi Police not only protected people from Covid-19 by serving day and night but also donated plasma to more than 350 persons and saved their precious lives from the pandemic.
The breathtaking task of curbing this menace, after it was declared as a pandemic, was taken over by Delhi Police as one of the challenges to its many assignments.
Delhi Police personnel right from the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020 were not only required to maintain law & order during the lockdown in NCT of Delhi but were also on toes in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic and protecting the general public from the deadly coronavirus disease.
Delhi police, as one of the frontline Covid-Warriors, performed their best in providing immediate assistance to the victims and ensuring guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health.
While performing their duties as frontline Covid-Warriors, the officers and subordinates of Delhi Police were at high risk.
This has resulted in Covid-19 infection to 6,937 (8.52% of the total 81,346) officers and subordinates of this elite force. Out of these 6,937 officers/subordinates, 6,089 (87.77%) have recovered after defeating the deadly virus and 822 (11.84%) are yet to recover from the infection.
Unfortunately, as many as 26 (0.38%) of its officers/subordinates succumbed to this deadly coronavirus disease. Still, the morale of Delhi Police is high and they are working sincerely, during the pandemic.
A large number of Delhi Police officers and subordinates (Covid-Warriors), after defeating the deadly coronavirus disease, have gone beyond the call of duty in saving the lives of Covid-19 victims. They donated Plasma to their colleagues, family/friends, and even to the unknown ones in Delhi and adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
As of 23rd November, 323 officers/subordinates have donated the plasma. Out of these 323, 82 donated for their colleagues, 107 for their family members/friends and 134 have donated for the unknown ones.
The plasma has helped in saving the lives of people of all ages, especially senior citizens and adults.
It is worth mentioning here that some of the members of this elite force, without caring for their personal lives, have donated Plasma even more than once as and when they heard about someone’s life is in danger and has to be saved on priority.
Head Constable Krishan Kumar posted at PS Kapashera, South-West District has donated the Plasma at five different hospitals i.e., (i) Ayush Hospital Sector-10 Dwarka, Delhi (ii) Aakash Hospital Dwarka, (iii) Max Hospital Saket, iv) Park Hospital Faridabad and (v) Maharaja Aggrasain Hospital, Paschim Vihar, Delhi.
Similarly, four Police personnel from the southeast District and one from Police Training College have donated the Plasma three times. Eight Police personnel from the southeast District have also donated the Plasma twice.
