The Centre has announced that by July or early August, there will be enough COVID-19 vaccine to inoculate one crore people a day.
It has also informed that mixing vaccines is not a protocol till further update. There is no change in the schedule of the two-dose Covishield and Covaxin vaccines, said the centre
Specifying norms for opening districts, the Centre said that the COVID positivity rate should be below five percent for a week, over 70 percent vulnerable population should be vaccinated and there should be community ownership to implement COVID-appropriate behaviour.
It said the positivity rate is less than five percent in 344 districts and 30 states have reported a decline in active COVID-19 cases since the last week.
There has also been an almost 69 percent decline in COVID cases since the peak recorded on May 7, the Centre said.
More than 21.31 crore vaccinations have been administered across India, according to the May 31 update, with 10,18,076 new vaccinations.
Of the total vaccinations administered to date, 79 percent are recipients of their first dose while 21 percent have received the second dose. Among states, Maharashtra administered the most vaccine doses at 2.23 crore, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 1.80 crore and Gujarat at 1.69 crore.
India now has 20,26,092 active cases with a fall of 88,416 cases in 24 hours, as per the May 31 update.
