Coronavirus News Today: The family of Covid warrior Madan Lal, who lost his life during the coronavirus pandemic, has received a cheque of Rs 1 crore from the Delhi government. According to an official statement, Delhi Education Minister Atishi handed the cheque to the family today.
A compensation of Rs 1 crore has been provided to the family under a scheme launched by the city government for Covid warriors who died while on duty during the pandemic.
Lal, according to the official statement, was a civil defence volunteer in the revenue department of the Delhi government. During the coronavirus pandemic, he was stationed at a vaccination centre at Begumpur dispensary. Lal contracted the disease during his duty at the centre and died a week later, the statement said.

“He sacrificed his life in the line of duty. The Delhi government has awarded his family a sum of Rs 1 crore for his sacrifice as a Covid warrior,” it added.
While handing over the cheque to the family, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Minister Atishi said that the government would never forget the courage and sacrifice of Covid warriors.
“Covid warriors worked with dedication during the pandemic. They did not worry about their own lives and did everything they can to ensure the safety of citizens.

“The country salutes them for their sacrifices. We promise that we will never forget the courage and sacrifice of these COVID warriors. The Delhi government will always stand by their families in every situation,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj met the family members of Covid warrior Satinder Hans. She was a resident of Virendra Nagar and lost her life while on duty during the pandemic.
Hans was posted as a senior nursing officer at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. She contracted the disease during duty and died. The minister handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to her family.
