Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with Save the Children – Bal Raksha Bharat, has announced a three-year partnership aimed at strengthening maternal and child health in selected areas of Delhi. The intervention will benefit approximately 60,000 women and children, focusing on improving nutrition outcomes and promoting evidence-based, sustainable actions.

Through this partnership, Takeda and Save the Children will work closely with the government to enhance health and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) systems. This will involve providing technical assistance, training, capacity-building, and resource support to frontline workers and service providers. The initiative aims to improve the quality of health and nutrition services, increase knowledge and practices among families, and foster household and community-level ownership.

Ruchi Sogarwal, Director of Corporate Affairs at Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Pvt Ltd, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and emphasized the importance of creating an environment that enables evidence-based nutrition actions at scale. The initiative will also address the need for testing and treatment of anemia, with a particular focus on pregnant women and adolescents, through Test-Treat-Talk (T3) Anaemia camps. Collaborating with the government and local and state-level CSO networks will play a crucial role in creating awareness and garnering support for child nutrition.

Dr. Namrata Jaitli, Director of Policy and Programme Impact at Save the Children (Bal Raksha Bharat), emphasized the collective expertise and resources that will be leveraged to make a significant impact in the lives of women and children in Delhi’s urban slums. The partnership will prioritize community engagement and forge strong partnerships with the government to improve health and nutrition interventions.
To ensure transparency and effectiveness, Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Pvt Ltd will collaborate with an independent external agency for monitoring and evaluation of the project. This partnership aims to positively impact the lives of women and children in targeted zones of Delhi, contributing to their overall health and well-being.
