Ministry of Ayush and the Department of Biotechnology have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to unite their expertise for evidence-based biotechnological interventions in the healthcare domain. Dr. Rajesh S Gokhale, Secretary of DBT, expressed optimism about the venture, stating that it holds great potential for generating new means of tackling difficult-to-treat diseases.

The joint effort between the two ministries will focus on utilizing biotechnological research and development to combat chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular conditions, osteoarthritis, cachexia, pain management, and infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis. The collaboration seeks to employ Ayurveda Therapeutics with the aid of animal models and advanced analytical methods to deepen mechanistic understanding.
