Union Health Minister Urges States to Conduct Mock Drills to Assess Covid-19 Preparedness
Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases globally, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has asked all states to conduct mock drills to check their preparedness in dealing with any eventuality related to the coronavirus. To ensure the readiness of India’s healthcare system, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has called for mock drills to be conducted in all states. These drills will assess the preparedness of healthcare facilities and help identify any gaps that need to be addressed to strengthen the response to the pandemic.
Mock Drills Aim to Strengthen Public Health Response
Mandaviya emphasized the importance of these mock drills in enhancing operational readiness and addressing any shortcomings in the public health response. By simulating potential scenarios, healthcare professionals can identify areas for improvement and refine their strategies. The minister plans to personally oversee the mock drill at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, gaining firsthand knowledge of the healthcare system’s readiness.
Delhi Government Allocates Budget for Emergency Situations
In preparation for potential emergency situations, the Delhi government has approved a budget of Rs 104 crore for hospitals. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has directed the heads of government hospitals to provide details on the availability of beds, ventilators, and ICUs to the Health Department. Real-time data on bed availability, oxygen cylinders, and ventilators will be made accessible to the public through a dedicated portal, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
