Apollo Hospital Turns Into Exam Centre For This Girl Who Is Diagnosed With A life-Threatening Illness

Sarabjot Kaur, a student of Mount Carmel in Hoshiyarpur, is getting treatment for a life-threatening disease at Apollo Hospital, Delhi. Unable to go to her examination centre, the girl made a request for allowing her to give the exams from the Room No. 2343 at the hospital, where she was admitted into three weeks ago.

The ICSE board accepted her request, and this room was witness to a rare exercise on Thursday the conducting of Class X board exams.

On Day 1, an examiner arrived there around the noon with the English question paper and answer sheets in a sealed envelope.

During the exams, only the student and the examiner were allowed inside. A doctors’ team was on standby for any medical help.

The next subject is mathematics, for which the examination will be held on March 3. Hospital authority is hopeful that by then she will be fit enough to be discharged and will be able to go to the examination centre.

The girl, who was among the toppers in the school, is suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML is a life-threatening disease which starts in the bone marrow.

Treatment options available for AML include chemotherapy, followed by a targeted therapy drug.

In such situation, most patients lose hope. Her courage and determination may give inspiration to those who lose hope after being diagnosed with critical illness.
