AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry Sign Agreement with CGHS to Provide Seamless Healthcare Services
Through a significant and people-centric move, cashless treatment facilities will now be available to Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry. This new development comes as a result of a Memorandum of Agreement signed between the three medical institutions and CGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with the aim of providing seamless healthcare services to CGHS beneficiaries.
The extension of cashless treatment facilities to CGHS beneficiaries at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry is expected to particularly benefit pensioner beneficiaries of CGHS. It eliminates the need for them to submit individual reimbursement claims and follow up for approvals. With this new initiative, CGHS beneficiaries will have direct access to state-of-the-art treatment facilities available in these renowned medical institutions, without the hassle of making upfront payments and seeking reimbursements from CGHS. This streamlined process will save time, reduce paperwork, and expedite the settlement of individual claims.
The agreement aims to expand access to state-of-the-art healthcare facilities for pensioners and other beneficiaries.
The Union Health Secretary, Shri Rajesh Bhushan, emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding the number of hospitals empaneled under CGHS. This expansion aims to provide excellent tertiary care facilities aligned with the rising requirements of patients across the nation. The agreement between AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, and CGHS is a significant step toward achieving this goal.
The salient features of this initiative include cashless treatment in outpatient departments (OPD), investigations, and indoor treatment for CGHS pensioners and other eligible beneficiaries. The three medical institutions will raise credit bills for CGHS beneficiaries, and CGHS will make payment within 30 days of receiving the bills. CGHS beneficiaries will be admitted upon the production of a valid CGHS Beneficiary ID Card at these institutions. Separate Help Desks and accounting systems will be created to cater to CGHS beneficiaries at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry.
Furthermore, the prescribed medicines from doctors at these institutions, whether for OPD treatment or at the time of discharge, will be collected by beneficiaries through CGHS. Referrals will no longer be required for CGHS beneficiaries to access healthcare facilities at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry.

The Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including the Officer on Special Duty, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Sudhansh Pant, and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Smt. V. Hekali Zhimoni. Directors of AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry were also present, emphasizing the collective effort to enhance healthcare accessibility for CGHS beneficiaries.
The introduction of cashless treatment facilities at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry for CGHS beneficiaries marks a significant milestone in improving healthcare services. The seamless access to state-of-the-art treatment, without the burden of upfront payments and reimbursement procedures, will benefit a large segment of the population, especially pensioner beneficiaries. This progressive step aligns with the government’s vision of expanding CGHS facilities and ensuring excellent healthcare for all.
