The second district in Saurashtra, Gujarat, to report a cholera outbreak is Jamnagar, following Rajkot. Following the report of seven cases of the disease in the city of Jamnagar, collector BK Pandya decided to enforce restrictions in the affected areas as well as those within two kilometers of them.
According to officials with knowledge of the situation, seven cases of cholera have been confirmed in Jamnagar, Gujarat. As a result, the city’s local authorities have declared several areas to be cholera-affected zones and placed restrictions on the sale of food and water.
Following a recommendation from the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner, district magistrate B K Pandya on Thursday imposed restrictions under the Epidemic Disease Act to implement immediate control measures.
The decision was made in response to reports of cholera cases in each of the affected jurisdictions from the health centers in Bedibander, Ghanchiwad, and Vambe.
Dharmanagar-2, Khojawad Lalkhan, and Ravipark, Bedibander Ring Road, are among the impacted areas. These areas have been labeled as cholera-affected zones because that is where the cases that tested positive for the disease were reported. Cholera-prone zones have been identified as being two kilometers around these locations.
After receiving care, three patients were released from the hospital. As of right now, no one has died, according to an official.
According to officials, the deputy commissioner of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has been designated as the Cholera Control Officer and has been given all the authority required to carry out control measures and stop the disease from spreading further.
According to a statement, local health authorities are attempting to contain the outbreak and give those who are impacted the necessary medical attention.
One cholera case was reported a day ago in Rajkot, which is roughly 150 km away from Jamnagar.
