A total of 24 non-COVID in-patients at Indian Army’s Research and Referral Hospital here have been tested positive.
They all were admitted into Oncology department. The detected patients include serving and military personnel. Some of them were the dependents also.
All of them have been shifted to quarantine facility at Delhi Cantt Base Hospital here.
Indian Army Spokesperson Col Anand said, “24 non-covid in-patients, who include serving and retired military personnel and dependents, admitted in Army Hospital (R&R), all from same department (oncology) have tested positive for the virus and shifted to Base Hospital at Delhi Cantt.”
So far no healthcare staff has been tested positive, he added.
“After a patient is tested positive, a detailed contact tracing has been carried out including the family members which were then categorized including into High Risk Group. Quarantine protocol and testing of those in high risk group have been carried out,” Col Anand said.
“All this can take upto 48 hours,” he added.
Till yesterday, a total of 74 persons including serving, retired and dependents from all armed forces including Army, Navy and Air Force were tested positive. So far 42 have been discharged after successful treatment.
Out of 74, 60 are serving personnel and 28 have been released.
India on Monday reported its highest ever spike with over 3,900 coronavirus cases as total positive patients toll has now crossed 46,000-mark.
Meanwhile, Delhi has so far witnessed 4,898 coronavirus cases including 1,431 recovered while 64 have died to the deadly diseases.
