COVID-19 Cases In India Today: India recorded over 6,000 fresh COVID-19 infections for the second consecutive day on Saturday. The number of new cases has been recorded at 6,155. According to Union health ministry data, the number of active cases has risen to 31,194.

The total tally of coronavirus cases in India now stands at 4.47 crore (4,47,51,259). Also, the death toll has climbed to 5,30,954. As per the data updated at 8 am, 11 deaths were reported, including two reconciled by Kerala.

At 31,194, the active cases comprise 0.07 per cent of the total infections. According to the health ministry website, the national coronavirus recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent.

As far as the daily positivity rate is concerned, it has been recorded at 5.63 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.47 per cent. At the same time, the number of people who have recuperated from the coronavirus disease has surged to 4,41,89,111. Also, the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.

According to the official website of the health ministry, 220.66 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Minister Mansukh Mandaviya holds a high-level meeting

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a high-level meeting with health ministers of all the states and asked them to check preparedness to deal with the rise in the number of new Covid-19 cases. Mandaviya asked all states and Union Territories (UTs) to do mock drill to get a better understanding of the preparation.

Also, he instructed health officials to raise awareness among people so that they start following Covid appropriate behaviour. The Union Health Minister also asked states and UTs to make sure the availability of coronavirus vaccines and give priority to those with comorbidities.
