CoviSelf, India’s First At-Home COVID-Test Kit Now Available Online, Can Show Results In 15mins

India’s first self-test kit for Covid-19 called, ‘CoviSelf’ is now available for common people at local pharmacies and online shopping platforms like Flipkart. This kit is produced by the Biotechnology company Mylab Discovery Solutions.

The ICMR (The Indian Council for Medical Research) had granted approval to the company for the rollout of a self-use rapid home-test kit for coronavirus which can show results in just 15 minutes.

CoviSelf is designed as the mid-nasal swab test that shows results in just 15 minutes. It costs around Rs 250 and is going to be distributed by Mylab to 95 percent of the PIN codes in the county.

However, this indigenous test kit can be purchased from e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and other local drugstores and pharmacies across the country.

It has been decided that the company will roll out one million self-test kits based on consumer demands on Thursday and will make 10 million units available per week. The company is planning to make the products available on the Government e-marketplace (GEM) and should be available in retail within 2-3 days.

Hasmukh Rawal, Managing Director of Mylab Discovery Solutions, in a statement that, “Self-testing should slow down the spread of Covid-19 significantly. We aim to make CoviSelf available across the length and breadth of the country, especially for the people residing in rural areas who have limited options for testing.”

However, India’s first RT-PCR Test kit last year which is now commonly used for Covid-19 tests was also been given by this Pune-based company.

Coviself Can Show Results In Just 15 Mins

As per the ICMR guidelines, Coviself can be only used by individuals with or without symptoms or immediate contacts of confirmed cases.

This product is very easy and comfortable to use and is an accurate alternative method to test Covid-19.

Designed as the mid-nasal swab test, it can detect positive results in just 15 minutes. Each unit contains a testing kit, instructions to use (IFU) leaflet, and a bag to safely dispose of after testing.

India reported 1,34,154 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, which took the total COVID-19 tally to 2,84,41,986, while the daily positivity rate has further dropped to 6.21 percent, the health ministry reported on Thursday.
