Delhi Govt Declares Malls, Theatres, Metros ‘Super Spreader Areas’

In the wake of increasing number of Covid-19 cases, Delhi Government has declared cinema halls, malls, metro, and religious places have been called ‘super spreader’ areas. All DMs have been instructed to increase surveillance in these areas.

India reports 47,262 new COVID-19 cases, 275 deaths in the last 24 hours

India reported 47,262 cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 275 related fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 11,734,058 and the death toll to 160,441 in the country.

The active caseload was logged at 368,457 and the number of people who recovered from the viral disease stood at 11,205,160 and the death toll has gone up to 1,60,441, according to the health ministry.

With 2,31,942 active coronavirus cases, Maharashtra continues to remain the most affected state in the country. However, 22,47,495 people have recovered from the disease while 53,589 people died in the state.

As many as 10,25,628 samples were tested on March 23, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On March 23 a total of 23,64,38,861 samples had been tested. While a total of 5,08,41,286 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far.

The union health ministry on Monday informed that Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh are reporting a surge in daily COVID-19 cases and together they account for 80.5 percent of the total new cases registered in the last 24 hours.

The total global Covid-19 cases stand at 124,790,051 and 2,745,386 related deaths have been recorded, according to data collated by Worldometer.

While, the United States continues to be the worst-hit nation in terms of cumulative caseload, followed by Brazil and India.
