The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in a series of tweets said on Friday that entry gates were temporarily closed at three Metro stations in Delhi to ensure the social distancing is being followed by the commuters.
The gates of metro states at Mohan Nagar, Dilshad Garden and Shahdara Metro stations were closed during the peak hours in the morning.
However, now the entry gates have been opened at all three stations announced DMRC in separate tweets. All three stations are on the Red Line that runs from Rithala to Shaheed Sthal (Ghaziabad ISBT).
The temporary closure of the entry comes amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in the capital as it is seeing the second wave of Covid-19.

The Delhi government in March designated Metro stations as “super spreader areas” and also asked authorities to increase surveillance in these areas to check the spread and ensure Covid-19 norms are being followed.
Amid the spike in Covid-19 infections, the Delhi government on Thursday imposed a ‘weekend curfew’–from10pm on Friday to 5am on Monday–on the movement of individuals till April 30 or further orders
Moreover, the national capital is the worst-hit city now in the country as it overtook Mumbai in terms of daily cases of coronavirus disease.
The city logged 17,282 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, in the highest single-day surge since the pandemic began in the city, which is the in highest single-day surge in the Capital since the pandemic began and reported more than 100 deaths, according to the health department’s data.
Data shows Mumbai’s single-day peak so far is 11,163, which were reported on April 4.
