Did Ayurveda Cure Prince Of Wales From COVID-19?

Contrary to the claims made by a union minister, Ayurveda had not cured the Prince of wales. As per the clarification issued by the spokesperson, the Prince of Wales followed the medical advice of the NHS (National Health Service) in the UK and nothing more.

Earlier, the Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik held a press briefing in New Delhi and said, “I received a phone call from Dr Isaac Mathai, who runs the Soukya Ayurveda Resort in Bengaluru. He told me that his treatment of Prince Charles through Ayurveda and Homeopathy has been successful. This is just one example of how the system can work.”

On April 2, Prince Charles issued a video statement and thanked UK’s National Health Service for its efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic “And at a time when doctors, nurses and all the vital ancillary staff that form the backbone of our remarkable NHS are increasingly under such enormous strain, and risk, as they battle heroically to save lives in intensive care centres and to contain, as much as possible, the spread of this virus, our thoughts and prayers are very much with those marvelous people whose extraordinary skills and utter, selfless devotion to duty and the care of their patients make us so very proud”.

Price Charles is a vocal supporter of Ayurveda

Charles, 71, has been a vocal supporter of Ayurveda over the years and had joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his UK visit in April 2018 at the Science Museum in London for the launch of a new Ayurvedic Centre of Excellence, aimed at creating a first-of-its-kind global network for evidence-based research on yoga and Ayurveda.

Boosting the Body’s Immune System May Hasten recovery

As the world scrambles to find a cure for COVID-19, health experts have suggested boosting the body’s immune system may help minimize the affects and hasten the recovery from the disease. They say ayurvedic herbs such as tulsi, cinnamon, black pepper, shunthi (dry ginger) and raisins and regular yoga are potent aids to increase the body’s immunity against harmful viruses.

AYUSH Ministry’s Protocol

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too, recently highlighted the benefits of ayurveda and urged people to “have a look” at Ayush Ministry’s protocol to stay fit, saying “good health is the harbinger of happiness”.

The ministry’s protocol outlined measures to build a strong immune system and it included: consuming warm water, practising yogasana, pranayama and meditation for 30 minutes every day.

It also advised usage of turmeric, cumin, coriander and garlic in cooking, besides taking 10 gm of chyavanprash in the morning. Jaggery, fresh lemon juice too can be helpful in the fight against COVID-19.
