A minor fire broke out in the storeroom of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Delhi, on early Monday morning.
The blaze broke out around 5 am according to the Delhi Fire Department,engulfing the area in smoke. The fire has been brought under control and no casualties have been reported. Seven fire tenders reached the spot and the blaze was brought under control, however the sparks were seen in the dummy room near the casualty area.
Patients in the surrounding area were evacuated and rescued from the affected areas. The fire control room received a distress call at 5:15 am, said officials.
The cause of the fire is not known yet. Investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire.
This is the second time when a fire out at AIIMS Delhi in a month, earlier this month too, a major fire broke out at All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. At least 8 fire tenders were to rushed to the spot. The fire erupted on the 9th floor of the Convergence block.
However, there was no loss of life or injuries reported, but efforts were made to control to douse the flames.
The fire department said the incident took place at 10.22 pm and 22 fire fighting vehicles have reached the spot to contain the blaze. It added rescue efforts are ongoing.
According to Delhi Fire Service’s Atul Garg, director, said it’s a teaching block and there was no patient.
