Functional Medicine Should be Part of AYUSH : Preeti Malhotra, Partner and Executive Director, Smart Group.

New Delhi 8: In her recent meeting with the AYUSH minister Shripad Naik, Preeti Malhotra, partner and executive director of Smart Group, requested the minister of state (Independent charge) to include functional healthcare into the concept of AYUSH.

“Functional medicine ensures healthy and disease free life and if this is also included under AYUSH it will get recognized and it will help promotion of preventive healthcare,” Malhotra told Healthwire in an exclusive interaction.
Smart group is a business conglomerate with interests diversified in mobility, finance, healthcare and technology.
Smart group has collaborated with  American Academy of Anti Ageing Medicine (A4M) and recently organized an anti-ageing and preventive healthcare conference in Delhi.

“We have collaborated with American Academy of Anti-Ageing Medicine (A4M). They hold these conferences every year and this time we thought to take this conference to India. The purpose is to have these conferences at a regular basis in different parts of India,” she added.
Defining the term preventive healthcare Malhotra said that preventive healthcare takes care of every aspect of person’s daily life from nutrition, supplementation, diet and genomics among other things to ensure that the person remains healthy.

“The purpose of preventive healthcare is that you shouldn’t fall sick and there should be no requirement to go to hospital,” Malhotra explains. “If people follow a healthy and integrated lifestyle like eat the right food, drink the right water, have a stress free life, healthcare needs of all the Indians would be met at a faster rate than today. This is going to be extremely beneficial for the health sector.”
