India’s Covid-19 Death Toll Reaches 300,000, New Cases Fall To 222,315

India recorded 4,454 Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 303,720, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family welfare (MoHFW) dashboard reported on Monday morning. The total coronavirus tally has risen to 26,752,447.

The Union Health Ministry of Health and family welfare report showed that, India’s Death toll has crossed 300000 mark after 4,454 died in the last 24 hours due to Covid19. Which makes India the third country after the United States and Brazil to record more than 300,000 fatalities due to the deadly disease.

On May 24, 19, MoHFW’s data showed 4,529 deaths in the preceding 24 hours, making it the highest single-day death toll anywhere in the world since the beginning of the pandemic and 4,329 related fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours before that. However, in the last few days, India’s daily Covid-19 death toll has reached to 4000-mark.

Meanwhile the country’s total coronavirus tally has increased to 26,752,447 after 222,315 positive cases were detected in the 24-hours. However, 23,728,011 recoveries we recorded and the recovery rate, while active cases are at 2,720,716, down 84,683 from the previous bulletin.

The Ministry of health’s vaccination dashboard showed that more than 942,722 doses were administered that took the total vaccination numbers to 196,051,962.

In the last 24 hours, 1,928,127 tests were conducted bringing the total number of tests conducted so far past the 330 million-mark to 330,536,064, said the government-run Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

However, on May 18, 1,869,223 tests were carried out that was the first time since May 18 when less than two million tests were conducted in a day.
