India recorded over 195,815 lakh new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Tuesday, taking the country’s total infections to over 2,69,48,874 crore. The daily surge in new cases have fallen below 2 lakh after a month. Out of these, over 25 lakh are active cases while over 2.40 crore people have recovered after testing positive. With 3,511 news deaths, the toll is now at 3,07,231.
India’s death toll crossed 3 lakh mark on Monday, with nearly 50 percent of mortalities counted so far after the second wave has hit the country. In the seven weeks over 1.4 lakh deaths have been reported after March. With this, the country now accounts for 16% of the global confirmed cases, and 9% of global deaths.

On May 25, MoHFW’s data showed 4,529 deaths in the preceding 24 hours, making it the highest single-day death toll anywhere in the world since the beginning of the pandemic and 4,329 related fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours before that. However, in the last few days, India’s daily Covid-19 death toll has reached to 4000-mark.
Meanwhile, the country’s total coronavirus tally has increased to 2,69,48,874 crore after 195,815 positive cases were detected in the 24-hours. However, 326850 recoveries we recorded and the recovery rate, while active cases are at 2586782, down 133934 from the previous bulletin.
The Ministry of health’s vaccination dashboard showed that more than 9,42,722 doses were administered that took the total vaccination numbers to 19,60,51,962.

In the last 24 hours, 20,58,112 tests were conducted bringing the total number of tests conducted so far past the 330 million-mark to 33,25,94,176 said the government-run Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
