A patient admitted to Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) allegedly died by suicide at the hospital bathroom early on Thursday morning.
According to doctors, the man – identified as Rajmani Sattar -was undergoing treatment for a prolonged period and might have slipped into depression due to this. No suicide notes have been recovered and further investigation is going on.
According to police, a ligature mark over the Anterior aspect of Neck was found on the deceased.
Initial inquiry suggests that the deceased underwent intestinal surgery at AIIMS Hospital in July 2019. In continuation of his treatment on 15.07.20, he came for further treatment at AIIMS Trauma.
His admission was made at about 2230. In the meantime, the deceased went missing from the admission area. Thereafter, he was found to be hanging with the help of a plastic pipe used with glucose bottles in the bathroom at Yellow Zone, AIIMS Trauma Center.
The deceased was taken to the emergency area where the doctor declared him brought dead.
The Delhi Police said that the dead body has been preserved and proceeding U/s 174 Cr.P.C is being conducted. No suicide note has been found so far and as per the statement and inquiry conducted, the matter is under investigation
The incident has sparked a debate over security issues at the hospital as this is the third such incident in less than a fortnight.

Earlier this month, a junior doctor of AIIMS died by suicide. According to reports, he jumped off the 10th floor of the AIIMS hostel. The incident took place at around 5 pm.
He was a junior doctor in the psychiatry department and as per sources he was suffering from depression. His mobile phone has been recovered and further investigation is going on.

Earlier, a 37-year-old journalist undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Centre in Delhi died after allegedly jumping off the fourth floor of the hospital building.
