Johnson & Johnson has sought approval from Indian drug regulators to conduct a study of its Covid-19 vaccine for the age groups between 12- to 17-year-olds, informed the US drugmaker on Friday.
The application has been submitted by Johnson & Johnson to the central drugs standard control organization (CDSCO) for the trial study.
In a statement submitted by J&J on Tuesday, it said that it is “imperative” to ensure all sections of the population, including children to get vaccinated against the virus as quickly as possible in order to contain the virus.
Moreover, it has been further stated by the American company that this was an important step forward in accelerating the availability of its Covid-19 vaccine to help end the pandemic.
Prior to this week, Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose Covid-19 vaccine got emergency use approval in India, becoming the fifth dose against COVID-19 to get such approval in the country. However, there is no doubt over starting of supplies as issues around indemnity against legal liabilities in case of severe adverse events are yet to be resolved.
