Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Sunday gave a new slogan to combat the new strain of coronavirus, “No corona, corona no”.
“Earlier I gave the slogan ‘Go Corona, Corona Go’ and now corona is going. For the new coronavirus strain, I give the slogan of ‘No Corona, Corona No,” the Republican Party of India (RPI) chief was quoted as saying by ANI.

Earlier in March, when the COVID-19 outbreak began in the country, a video went viral in which Athawale was seen chanting the ‘Go Corona’ slogan with candles, during a prayer session to stop the spread of coronavirus in China.

He had also said how after his slogan, the virus subsided in 8 months, and with the vaccine on its way, the pandemic is likely to end soon. Union Minister Athawale himself had eventually tested positive for coronavirus and has since recovered.
On Monday, the union minister had said a COVID-19 vaccine would be available in the country in one or two months. Once the vaccine comes, “corona will go from here (the country)”, he told reporters in Panaji.
The Drugs Controller General of India is currently examining the applications of Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute of India, and Pfizer for emergency use authorization for their COVID-19 vaccines in the country.
A new strain of Covid-19 was reported in the UK, after which the civil aviation ministry has suspended flights originating from the United Kingdom from December 22. The newly mutated virus is believed to having higher transmissibility.
India on Sunday reported its lowest daily Covid-19 tally after a period of six months. At 18,732 new cases in the last 24 hours, the total count of novel coronavirus cases in India reached 10,187,850, according to the health ministry data.
