Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Friday assured that there would not be any further lockdown imposed in the state in the coming days
“There is no possibility of fresh lockdown in the near future. I appeal to people to avoid crowding while celebrating the Ganesh festival. The celebration should be simple,” he told reporters.
“The government has been issuing various guidelines and they should be followed all the time,” he added. Maharashtra reported 4,313 new COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths on Friday.
India’s COVID-19 infection tally rose by 42,618 in a day to reach 3,29,45,907 while the number of active cases touched 4,05,681 following an increase for the third consecutive day, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.
The death toll climbed to 4,40,225 with 330 more people succumbing to the viral disease, showed the data updated at 8 am.
With the administration of 58,85,687vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 67.72Cr (67,72,11,205) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 70,88,424sessions.
