After receiving a jab of coronavirus vaccine in the state, two healthcare workers in Odisha were admitted to a hospital as they registered Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI).
The situation of both healthcare workers in the districts of Jagatsinghpur and Bargarh was confirmed to be stable, PTI news agency said.
On 19 January, a 45-year-old female ASHA worker from the Jagatsinghpur district was given a novel coronavirus vaccine, after which she developed a headache and a fainting attack on the same day.
She was then admitted to the Hospital of the District Headquarters, where, as per the examination, her condition was reported to be stable.
On 16 January, a 27-year-old female staff nurse from the Bargarh district was shot with a vaccine. On the same day, she developed a fever and was admitted for observation at a hospital in Bargarh. Her health is stable now.
Meanwhile, in Assam, as many as 3,091 beneficiaries received Covid-19 vaccine shots on Thursday, taking the total number of inoculated people in the state to 10,676. Two minor cases of AEFI were reported during the day in Lakhimpur and Barpeta districts.
A senior health department official indicated that in West Bengal, at least 7,692 individuals received shots of the ‘Covishield’ vaccine on Thursday at 94 centres across the state.
“Today, 7,692 people were vaccinated. No serious adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) case was reported. Only three persons who received the jabs were admitted in hospitals,” he said.
The three are “stable” but their health problems are being watched, the official said.
