There has been an increase in dengue cases over the past three weeks, surpassing the 1,000 cases that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has allowed. In three weeks, 1,036 cases have been reported, which is a twofold increase from June 2023. Tushar Girinath, the Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), is among those who have tested positive for dengue.
Officials have been directed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take action to lower the state’s dengue case count. In charge of yesterday’s meeting with officials at Vidhana Soudha here, he stated that 5,374 cases total—five of which involved deaths—had been reported in the State up until this point. He also added that the officials needed to make sure that the fatality rate did not surpass 0.5 percent in accordance with the Central Government’s guidelines.

CM Siddaramaiah voiced his concerns about the rise in cases reported in the districts of Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Haveri, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, and Dakshina Kannada, stating that the State had recorded 0.09 percent case fatality, which was less than the recommended guidelines. He stated, “1,230 dengue cases have been reported in the BBMP limit,” and he gave the concerned officials instructions to make sure those who were diagnosed with the disease received all the care and medication they required at the government hospitals.
In order to stop the disease from spreading, he also gave the officials instructions to survey every household door-to-door and raise public awareness with the aid of ASHA employees, nursing students, NSS students, and other volunteers.
Additionally, CM directed Urban Local Bodies to take the required actions to prevent water buildup. He urged people to work with authorities to eradicate the mosquito larvae of Aedes aegypti, which spreads the virus that causes Zika fever, yellow fever, and chikungunya in addition to dengue.
In addition to meeting with government representatives and talking about dengue, the Karnataka chief minister has a message for the general public. In order for the disease to be jointly battled and fought against, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called on the populace to collaborate and work in tandem with the state authorities. The public has been asked by the chief minister to follow the directives given by the authorities and to take the required safety measures to protect themselves and others around them.
