In a momentous ceremony today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked the commencement of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari, Haryana.
The event witnessed the presence of Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Governor of Haryana, along with key figures like Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal, Minister of State Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Dushyant Chautala.
Expressing his excitement, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the rapid transformation of the health sector to meet the rising aspirations of the people. He highlighted the vision of “Viksit Bharat” and stressed the pivotal role of the health sector in achieving that vision by 2047.
“This foundation laying ceremony of AIIMS Rewari aligns with the Government’s commitment to prioritize public health infrastructure,” stated Prime Minister Modi. He emphasized that AIIMS Rewari would not only address healthcare needs but also generate employment opportunities and foster medical education.
Over the last decade, the government has approved 15 new AIIMS and more than 300 medical colleges, including one in each district of Haryana. Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya termed the event as “a historic day for Haryana’s Healthcare ecosystem,” ensuring access to quality and affordable healthcare.
Shri Manohar Lal expressed gratitude to the Union Government for fulfilling the long-cherished wish of the people of Rewari. AIIMS Rewari is poised to serve South Haryana and the neighboring region of North Rajasthan.
Shri Rao Inderjit Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to enhance infrastructure development, including health infrastructure. He highlighted the expansion of the AIIMS network to 23 across the country.
AIIMS Rewari, approved under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), is a significant step in correcting regional imbalances in specialized health services. The establishment, costing Rs 1650 crore, spans 203 acres in Rewari district. The 750-bed hospital complex includes a medical college, nursing college, AYUSH block, residential and educational facilities.
The institute will offer high-quality patient care services across various specialties, providing healthcare benefits to remote areas through digital health infrastructure. The establishment of AIIMS in Haryana is a crucial milestone in delivering comprehensive and specialized healthcare services to the state.
Senior officials from the Union Health Ministry, Government of Haryana, and implementing agencies were present at the foundation-laying occasion of AIIMS Rewari.
