RAKSHITA: A Bike Ambulance For Medical Emergencies Launched

CRPF and DRDO launched specially developed RAKSHITA - a bike ambulance (ANI)

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) launched on Monday a specially built ‘RAKSHITA’-a bike ambulance designed to meet the urgent evacuation needs of security personnel in the event of a medical emergency or fighting injuries in the affected areas of Naxal.

Sources reported that these bikes would provide assistance to CRPF jawans and paramedics in the event of any casualties during the encounters.

“These bikes will be more useful in areas like Bijapur, Sukma, Dantewada etc., as it is tough for the force to take big vehicles or ambulances inside the jungle,” said the CRPF official.

The bike was created after the CRPF noticed the need for such bikes to reach the narrow roads quickly intense areas, particularly in the Naxalite zones. There have been cases where medical facilities have not been able to hit the point in time and the delay in medical assistance has ended up making the condition of patients more serious.

The Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS) works in the field of biomedical and clinical study in the areas of radiation, neurocognitive imaging and research. It works under the DRDO and is the Research and Development (R&D) arm of the Ministry of Defense of the Government of India.
