Dr Mathew Varghese and Dr Alok Sarin to Provide Guidance and Insights for Sukoon’s Behavioral Health Platform
New Delhi, May 16th, 2023 – Sukoon Health, India’s leading integrated Mental Healthcare provider, has taken a significant step toward enhancing comprehensive inpatient care by inducting esteemed senior psychiatrists into its Clinical Advisory Board. Dr Mathew Varghese, renowned faculty at the Department of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore, and Dr Alok Sarin, Honorary Consultant to the Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science & Research, New Delhi, have joined Sukoon’s clinical team. Additionally, Dr Somnath Sengupta, former Senior Consultant in Adult Psychiatry at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Ministry of Health, Singapore, has been appointed as the Clinical Regional Head.
Dr Mathew Varghese brings over 35 years of experience in the field of psychiatry, with a focus on treating patients with depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. He has actively participated in national and international collaborative research projects, particularly in the areas of old age psychiatry, dementia, psychiatric epidemiology, and family interventions.
Recognized for his contributions to mental health research, Dr Alok Sarin has received numerous accolades, including the Senior Fellowship from the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. He has played a pivotal role in drafting national and state mental health policies in India and has a deep understanding of the mental health aspects of history.

As board advisors, Dr Varghese and Dr Sarin will provide valuable guidance and insights to shape Sukoon’s inpatient mental health services and support the mission to build India’s largest behavioral health platform.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr Somnath Sengupta has served in various prestigious medical institutions and worked extensively in the field of psychiatry. As the Clinical Regional Head, he will lead clinical services in the Delhi-NCR region.
