Thanks to Bone Marrow Transplant, Blood Cancer is Curable in India with 60% Success Rate, says Dr. Rahul Bhargava

New Delhi, January 1-Despite becoming very common these days, cancer remains one of the dreaded diseases. And when it comes to blood cancer, most people still believe that it is incurable.
However, Dr. Rahul Bhargava, Director, Department of Haemotology and Bone Marrow Transplant Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon, tells us that people should know that with the advent of advanced technologies like Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and improved medical proficiencies, all kinds of blood cancers are much treatable in the country.
Blood cancers are the broadly divided into three categories out which Leukaemia, is the cancer of bone marrow. For the successful treatment of blood cancers, he advices patients to look for the symptoms and reporting straight away to the haematologists-oncologists, doctors who are specialised in treating blood cancers. He also warns that wasting time with physicians and other oncologists can drastically slim down the the chances of recovery.
“Early diagnosis of the disease is an important determinant in the clinical outcome of cancer treatment. Once blod cancer is diagnosed, people should immediately should immediately consult haematologists-oncologists, if they haven’t done that so in the beginning. Only an expert of the blood cancer treatment has the knowledge and technical proficiency to decide the most effective treatment module for the successful recovery,” says Dr. Bhargava.
“Unlike common perception, all kinds of blood cancers are treatable. Today we have such advanced treatment options that even patients who were declared incurable are now leading a healthy and normal life. All that blood cancer patients need to do is to report to the right doctor timely, who, in the case, is a haematologist-oncologist,” adds Dr. Bhargava.
