Union Cabinet Secretary To Meet Representatives Of 11 States, Delhi CM Calls ‘Urgent’ Meeting In Wake Of Covid-19 Cases

Amid the rising coronavirus cases, India has reported the highest single-day spike of this year with 72,330 new infections in a span of 24 hours. The nationwide tally of cases has increased to 1,22,21,665.

The worst-hit state Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 39,544.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold an ‘urgent meeting today to prepare an action plan in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the national capital.

The officials of concerned departments will also be part of the meeting, apart from the health minister.

The third phase of COVID-19 vaccination has been already launched for people of all aged 45 and above.

In a bid to exponentially expand the vaccination drive, the Centre has announced that all vaccination centers, public and private will remain operational throughout April, including on gazetted holidays.

In the last 24hours, India reported 81,466 new COVID-19 cases and 469 coronavirus-related deaths, as per the Union Health Ministry’s data released on Friday.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country reached 1,23,03,131 with these additional cases.

With 469 new deaths, the death toll in India has gone up to 1,63,396. There are 6,14,696 active cases in the nation as of now.

Furthermore, 50,356 people were discharged after recovery on Thursday, taking the nationwide recovery tally to 1,15,25,039.
