A 46-year-old ward boy at one of the district hospitals in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh died a day after receiving coronavirus vaccine on the first day of the vaccination drive.
The ward boy, Mahipal Singh, reportedly complained of breathlessness and unease, especially in the chest after taking a jab of Covishield, the Serum Institute of India’s COVID-19 vaccine.

What went wrong with Mahipal Singh, who died a day after he was vaccinated, allegedly?
Moradabad Chief Medical Officer (CMO) MC Garg claimed that the death of Singh does not have anything to do with the vaccine he was given. He had a blockage in his heart and puss in his lungs, the post-mortem report revealed.
What vaccine did he receive and when?
On January 16, at 1 p.m. at the District Main Hospital, he was given Covishield. As with all the other vaccinated patients, he was kept in the hospital for observation for some time.
He displayed no signs of side effects at all. He was absolutely healthy at the time of his discharge from the hospital and he did not have any fever or rashes or anything of that kind.
When did he begin to experience health complications?
His family members say he had chest pain about Saturday noon and tried to treat it with home remedies. Then, in the evening, he experienced chest pain again and faced breathing difficulties. His family ran him to the District Hospital. He was taken to the emergency room, and the doctors pronounced him dead. He died on his way to the hospital.
What does the post-mortem report reveal?
A team of three doctors who performed the post-mortem found cardiogenic or septicemic shock due to cardiopulmonary disease as the immediate cause of death. The post mortem analysis reveals that he died from a heart attack and pus in the lung.
The family claimed gross negligence
Vishal Singh, son of the deceased, alleges that death is due to the dose of the vaccine. I would say that whatever happened is because of the vaccination and I would like to keep the government accountable for having people vaccinated.
He came out about 1.30 pm after receiving the vaccine dose. I took him home with me, and he was breathless. Before the vaccine, he had mild pneumonia along with a regular cough and cold, but his condition worsened after having the shot,” he told the media.
