Amid the deadly coronavirus scare in Delhi and NCR, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday said his ministry and the Prime Minister are monitoring the situation on a daily basis.
“I am daily reviewing the situation. A Group of Ministers is also monitoring the situation,” Mr Vardhan said in a statement in the Rajya Sabha on coronavirus outbreak and its impact in India.
The Minister said that till March 4, as many as 29 positive cases of coronavirus were reported in the country.He informed the House that till March 4, around 6,11,176 passengers have been screened at different points.
”A total 29 cases have been reported till now. Of them, three are from Kerala who have been released. One more has tested positive in Delhi, who has a travel history to Italy,” the Minister said.
The Minister said the government is making efforts to evacuate Indians stranded in Iran. ”The government is in regular touch with Iran,”Dr Harshvardhan said.
Iran has reported 2,922 cases of coronavirus till date with 92 deaths reported.
The Health Minister said India had initiated required preparedness and action since January 17, much before advice of the World Health Organisation.
