Arvind Kejriwal’s Wife Tests Covid-19 Positive, Delhi CM Quarantines Himself

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal on Tuesday tested positive for Covid-19. She is being treated under home isolation as of now. The CM has also isolated himself.

Back in June 2020, Arvind Kejriwal had got himself tested for Covid-19 infection after he developed a fever and sore throat. Arvind Kejriwal had complained of fever and a sore throat, raising concerns if he had caught the coronavirus infection. His, however, tested negative for the infection.

Delhi on Monday registered 23,686 new Covid-19 cases, taking the active caseload to 76,887. While the Covid-19 cases saw a dip on Monday, Delhi registered its highest single-day tally of Covid deaths with 240 fatalities in the last 24 hours.

The national capital, Delhi is observing a six-day lockdown that began Monday night as Covid-19 cases have surged by nearly 600% in the last two weeks which has led to a shortage of medical supplies. The Capital is unable to meet its requirement of ICU beds and oxygen cylinders for Covid-19 patients.

According to the latest figures released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday morning, India’s Covid-19 tally breached 15.3 million-mark with 259,170 fresh cases and 1761 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours. This is the sixth day in a row that the country’s daily infection caseload has crossed 200,000 mark.
