High blood pressure, or hypertension is an increasing health condition that impacts people of almost all age groups. It is also known as a silent killer. A report from the World Health Organization (WHO) reveals that around 1.3 billion people in the age range of 30 to 79 years suffer from hypertension across the globe and around 46 per cent of them are undiagnosed. Persistent chest pain, breathing difficulty, chronic headache, anxiety, nausea, blurred vision, and severe fatigue are common signs and symptoms of hypertension.
Patients who are dealing with this issue can make some lifestyle changes to keep their blood pressure under control. A general physician, Dr Dhiman Basu reveals along with some dietary changes, beetroot juice as well can help manage the condition.
Dr Basu said that almost all deep red vegetables are rich in (NO3) dietary nitrates, which help blood vessels relax and decrease blood pressure by enhancing blood flow. Experts say that Beetroot is a superfood for people suffering from hypertension. Many studies show that NO3 is altered into biologically active nitrite (NO2) and nitric oxide (NO) after ingestion. Nitric oxide is essential in offering relaxation in the blood vessels that helps reduce high blood pressure or hypertension majorly.
When does exactly hypertension happen?
Hypertension happens when the pressure in your blood vessels is around 140/90 mmHg or higher. The pressure of the blood flow pushes against the artery walls. High blood pressure causes serious harm to the heart as well.

A study sponsored by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) at the Queen Mary University of London shows that a healthy adult should drink 250 ml of beetroot juice daily to regulate hypertension. Experts advise that people should take good care of their health and daily habits. They should consume healthy food, quit smoking and too much alcohol consumption, indulge in physical activity, and keep their weight in check to manage diabetes and its symptoms that can occur due to high blood pressure.
