Everyone dreams of having a glowing and spotless skin. But today’s lifestyle habits, stress, inadequate sleep and poor nutrition take a toll on the health of our skin. Also, pollution causes more harm to your skin than you can imagine. In fact, it is one of the main external sources of damage to the skin.
According to Dr Priyanka Reddy – dermatologist, cosmetologist, trichologist, founder of DNA Skin Clinic, Bangalore – the best thing is that the skin’s overall health and appearance can be improved to a large extend within a week by simple home remedies.
While there are many ingredients in your kitchen that can help you with skin issues, it is important to know your skin type before you try out a particular remedy, says Dr Priyanka Reddy.
For Sensitive Skin Type: You can make your own aloe vera base face mask. Take fresh aloe vera gel and add a few drops of 100% organic honey. Apply it on your face and leave it for 20 minutes. Then rub your face with ice cubes made of aloe vera gel, tulsi leaves and honey for 5 minutes. Wash it off with cool water. This can be done 2-3 times in a week.
For Oily Skin Type: Again, the base of the face mask can be aloe vera. To it, add a paste made of fresh neem leaves and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply it on your face and leave it for 20 minutes. Then rub your face with ice cubes made of aloe vera gel and neem leaves for 5 minutes. Wash it off with cool water. This can be done every day during week.
For Dry Skin Type: Honey and curd make an excellent moisturizing combination for dry skin. Apply a face mask made of curd and 100% organic honey. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rub for 5 minutes with ice cubes made of curd and honey. Wash off with cool water and pat dry.
After using the home-made face packs, apply the cream suggested your dermatologist for best results.
