Government Initiatives for Growth
The Indian government has launched strategic initiatives such as the National Medical Device Policy 2023 and the Export-Promotion Council for Medical Devices to boost domestic manufacturing and strengthen testing facilities.
Promoting Self-Reliance and Innovation
Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the goal of reducing import dependency in the medical device sector, aligning with the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative, and fostering innovation through partnerships.
Gujarat, the host state of the expo, holds a significant share in India’s pharmaceutical industry, making strides in drug manufacturing and exports.
Nurturing a Vibrant Ecosystem
Dr. V K Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, emphasized the acceleration of the Indian MedTech sector and the potential for exponential growth driven by technological revolutions and partnerships.
Smt. S Aparna, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, highlighted the government’s multi-pronged approach to healthcare, leading India to produce a diverse range of medical equipment.
Paving the Way for MedTech Future
The event witnessed the unveiling of a MedTech Expo Compendium and a Future & R&D Pavilion booklet, underscoring India’s commitment to research and development.
