Summer has already arrived, and it will be getting difficult to step outside for everyday work and keep our skin healthy and safe from sunburn. To get relief from summer many of us go to waterparks. This can give us only temporary relief.
Sunburn is a skin issue that happens during summer. It irritates your skin. Sunburn is a red, difficult skin response that happens after an excessive amount of exposure to bright (UV) light. UV light is a sort of radiation in daylight. Indeed, even on shady days, UV light can go through mists and cause sunburn.
Symptoms of Sunburn
- Red
- Painful
- Swollen
- Warm
- Blistered
- Dry, itching, and peeling three to eight days after the burn
Prevention from Sunburn
One way to prevent sunburn is to wear sunscreen and a full covering dress. Sunscreens are synthetics that square or channel daylight. Sunscreen, also known as sunblock or suntan lotion, is a lotion, spray, gel, foam stick or other topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Some have synthetic substances that assimilate and channel the daylight, for example, oxybenzone and avobenzone. Others have synthetics that genuinely block the light, for example, zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. No sunscreen blocks 100% of UV light.
There are some other ways to treat sunburn which include:
- Taking a cold bath
- Applying aloe gel
- Keep adding moisture to the skin
- Keep drinking fluids to prevent dehydration
- Gently apply a cool and wet cloth to your skin
- Stay out of the sun until you get relief
If your condition worsens with a sunburn you can experience symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting, chills, weakness, and feeling dizzy. In this case, you should definitely go and see your doctor to get the proper treatment.
Sugandha Sharma, Dermatologist says “The best prevention from sunburn is to keep applying sunscreen on your skin two hours before going out and after washing your face or hands. Also, it would be helpful if you don’t wear a black dress. You should not wear a short dress while stepping out of your home during summer. Keeping your body and skin hydrated is also very important”.
