Former Australia cricketer and the greatest leg-spinner of all-time, Shane Warne, has died, aged 52.
“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” Warne’s management confirmed in a statement to Australian media outlet Fox Sports.
Between 1992 and 2007 Warne played 145 Tests and 194 ODIs and took a combined 1001 wickets during his historied international career. He was one famous leg spinners of all time and was affectionately called ‘Warnie’.
After retiring, he continued to be a popular figure, establishing a successful broadcasting career as a commentator and expert.
Following his retirement, Warne famously captained and coached the Rajasthan Royals to a fairy-tale title win in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008.
