Fever, cold, cough and infections are common during winter.

Fever, cold, cough and infections are common during winter. People give a thousand advices when it comes to protecting themselves from cold winds during the winters. A common advice that almost all of our elders give is to cover your head in winter to avoid the cold. That is, to avoid the cold wind, you should wear a cap on your head. But does this suggestion actually work?

Ayurvedic practitioner Dr. Nitika Kohli has shared his views on Instagram in this matter. She says, “During winter you need to cover your head with a cap or dupatta or muffler as we lose most of our body heat from our head. In such a situation, wearing a winter hat will not only protect you from the common cold and coughs but will also make you feel comfortable in winter. Experts advise people that you must wear a hat in winter, it will also protect you from many diseases. But it shouldn’t be boring. If you want, you can wear trendy headwear.”

“During the winter season, you need to cover your head with a hat, cap, or scarf as we lose most of our body heat from the head, in particular, the scalp. The proportion of heat lost through your head is similar to any other exposed part of your body,” said Ayush Aggarwal, Founder & Director Rasayanam.
