Revitalizing Public Healthcare

In a significant stride towards achieving universal access to equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare services, the National Health Mission (NHM) has operationalized an impressive number of Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) across the country.

Empowering Health through Finance

The Fifteenth Finance Commission (FC-XV) has recommended substantial grants to local governments, amounting to Rs 70,051 crores, to bolster the health sector.

Pioneering Health Infrastructure

The PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) focuses on developing capacities across all levels of healthcare institutions to respond effectively to existing and potential pandemics and disasters.

Ensuring Immunization Coverage

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is committed to expanding immunization coverage rapidly, targeting nearly 2.67 crore newborns and 2.9 crore pregnant women annually.

Enriching Medical Education

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is establishing new medical colleges in underserved areas and aspirational districts, totaling 157 colleges in three phases.

Rural Health Statistics and Beyond

Rural Health Statistics (RHS) provides insights into the healthcare landscape, encompassing data on healthcare facilities and human resources in rural and tribal areas.

The National Health Mission (NHM) is making strides in strengthening India’s healthcare landscape through the operationalization of Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs). These centers, totaling 1,60,480 as of July 24, 2023, are a testament to the commitment towards providing comprehensive and accessible primary healthcare.

In tandem with this, the Fifteenth Finance Commission (FC-XV) has recommended substantial grants of Rs 70,051 crores to local governments, amplifying the health sector’s capability to address community needs. These grants, disbursed over five years, underscore the importance of grassroots health system enhancement.

A pioneering endeavor, the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), with its allocation of Rs. 64,180 crore, is setting a new paradigm in healthcare. By focusing on strengthening capacities across all levels of healthcare institutions, it aims to equip the system to effectively combat present and future healthcare challenges.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is dedicated to rapidly expanding immunization coverage. The Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) targets newborns and pregnant women, ensuring free-of-cost immunization against 12 preventable diseases. In parallel, “Mission Indradhanush,” launched in 2014, has been pivotal in driving immunization coverage, especially in hard-to-reach areas and tribal communities.

Furthermore, medical education is receiving a boost, with the Ministry establishing new medical colleges in underserved regions. This initiative, spanning 157 colleges across three phases, exemplifies the commitment to bridging the healthcare education gap.

Rural Health Statistics (RHS) serves as a comprehensive resource, shedding light on healthcare facilities and human resources in rural and tribal areas. As these initiatives unfold, India’s healthcare landscape is poised for remarkable transformation, ensuring quality healthcare for all.
