Covid -19 has changed our lives in numerous ways. Millions of people have been forced to work from home. We are forced to maintain a social distancing norm. We are doing this, because we have been told this is all we can do to control the spread of the infection.
However, we should not forget that there are also many advantages which working from home allows us to enjoy. Some of you might have been able to spend quality time with your family and loved ones. We don’t have to waste time on commuting to and from office.
However, you miss the community spirit that you used to get while working in a physical workspace before the outbreak of this pandemic. The ambience of office enhances your motivation and productivity that a Work From Home (WFH) setup often lacks.
In the time of work from home, staying motivated as usual can be a quite challenging but a few easy hacks can solve this problem!
Hence, we bring to you three ways to overcome this feeling, and bring your motivation back on track.
1. Set up a routine
You are supposed to be online for a certain duration you are working from home. You can try to fix the timing, set a regular work schedule around that time. Maintain a basic routine that includes waking up at the same time every day, exercising, showering, getting dressed for work (you may consider wearing at least a fresh shirt/top before going online), eating a healthy breakfast, and then make a checklist of everything you need to achieve during the day.
Moreover, you can also try to fill up the extra time by indulging in a hobby — you can talk to friends, do some work out or even start reading a book. These activities will positively keep you motivated!
2. Take a break
Try to create a mechanism for yourself, in which you can take a short break after you complete a certain task on your checklist. However, it is very important to get a sense of accomplishment on a daily basis.
You could also go for a walk — once in the middle of the workday, and once at the end. Walking is a great way to exercise and relax your muscles at the same time.
3. Create a dedicated workspace for yourself
The situation we all are dealing with is extremely tough and uncertain so we need to keep ourselves going to emerge stronger.
Sitting on the couch or attending meetings lying down is comfortable while working. The same may not be true when you have to focus your entire attention to a particular task. For that you need a dedicated workspace that could be a particular area of the house where you work from daily, it could even be a study table inside your room.
However, it is important that this designated place must be respected. It should be sacrosanct for both, you and your family members. It should be free from all the disturbances and must be set with easy access to all kinds of tools and supplies that are important to deliver your work.
