India’s Vaccination Drive: Registration Process At Co-WIN App-All You Need To Know

India’s role within the global Covid-19 vaccine rollout is going to be significant both as a recipient of the drugs also as a producer. The country has one among the most important vaccine manufacturing capacities in the world, and has also secured authorization to mass-produce the AstraZeneca, Novavax, and Gamaleya Research Institute vaccines.

With a population of 1.3 billion, the domestic vaccination drive will be the largest in the world.

The government has said it will deploy its vast election machinery to deliver 60 crore doses of Covid vaccines to 30 crore Indians, including healthcare & frontline workers, priority groups above the age of fifty, and people under 50 with comorbidities.

“While most of the healthcare and frontline workers would be vaccinated at fixed session sites, vaccination of other high-risk populations may require outreach session sites, and mobile sites and teams,” the ministry said in the document, “Covid-19 Vaccines Operational Guidelines”.

Registration Process At Co-WIN App

How to register 

At the vaccination site, only pre-registered beneficiaries, one at a time, are going to be vaccinated in accordance with the prioritization, and there’ll be no provision for on-the-spot registrations.

For self-registration, twelve photo-identity documents, including election ID, Aadhaar card, driving license, passport, and pension document, will be required for self-registration on the Co-WIN website or app.

The Photo ID produced at the time of registration must be produced and verified at the time of vaccination. Photo ID is a must for both registration and verification of beneficiary at session site to ensure that the intended person is vaccinated.

Following online registration, beneficiaries will receive SMS on their registered mobile number on the due date, place, and time of vaccination.

On getting the due dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the beneficiary will receive SMS on their
registered mobile number. After all doses of vaccine are administered, a QR code-based certificate also will be sent to the registered mobile number of the beneficiary.

Steps to register for the COVID-19 vaccine

States and UTs will allocate the vaccine from one manufacturer to a neighborhood, as far as possible, to avoid mixing of various COVID-19 vaccines within the field.

The vaccination team will consist of five members. Each session should be planned for 100 beneficiaries per day.

There will be three separate rooms – one for waiting, one for observation, and one for the inoculation – to make sure crowd management and social distancing.

If the session site has adequate logistics and space available, another vaccinator officer will be added to make a session for 200 beneficiaries.

Stringent measures to be taken to avoid exposing the vaccine carrier, vaccine vials, or ice packs to direct sunlight. Vaccines and diluents should be kept inside the vaccine carrier with the lid closed until a beneficiary involves the center for vaccination.

The government is all geared up to set up over 28,900 cold chain points with 85,643 equipment across India for storing the vaccines, as soon as they become available for use.
