These Famous Celebrities Have Pledged Their Organs

Organ donation can save the lives of many people. It is a simple process where a person legally allows an organ of his body to be transplanted to another body. This can be done either by consent while alive or it can be done with the consent of the next of kin if some had already pledged to donate his organ.

Common transplantations include kidneys, liver, heart, intestines, pancreas, lungs, bones, bone marrow, skin, and corneas. There are some organs that can be donated by living donors, like kidney or part of the lungs, pancreas, liver, and intestines. But most of the time donations occur after the donor has died.

According to reports, there are around 5 lakh people in India who die every year because of the shortage of organs. This is evident by the fact that organ donation rates is very poor in India with just 0.3 per million. This is very less in comparison to some western countries where it is as high as 36 per million.

The process of pledging is very simple but it is important to make people more aware. This is why some famous celebrities have come forward for this social cause.
