The number of coronavirus cases is escalating every single day and the concerns among people are increasing along with it. People are doing all possible things to keep their immunity up and tight during this weather change. The change in weather is alarming to cope up and take precautionary measures to avoid the COVID infection. The heavy rains and the drop in temperature have worsened the situation more causing cold and flu.
Though research says, we don’t have proper evidence that climate change influences the spread of COVID-19, but it is a fact that climate change may vary in how we relate to other species on Earth which matters our health and its risk for infections. It is seen that as the planet heats up, animals big or small on land or in the sea, are headed to the poles to get out of the heat which is a big concern.
On the other hand, there are discussions about will warmer weather reduces the spread of Coronavirus. So, according to studies, it is said that we still haven’t sensed what the changing weather will mean for COVID-19; therefore we shouldn’t rely upon the warmer to restrict the transmissions of COVID. Rather we need to take proper precautions and measures right now to slow down the spread of this deadly virus. We must follow the advice that public health experts are trying to give us since the pandemic took place like, practice social distancing, wearing masks, maintaining good hand hygiene, and others.
The changes in the weather make the conditions more favorable to spread some other infectious diseases like including Lyme disease, waterborne diseases such as Vibrio parahaemolyticus which causes vomiting and diarrhea, and mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria fever.
Dr. Avadhesh Narayan Khare, MD Medicine, DM Cardiologist, at LBS Heart hospital, Bhopal, talks to the Healthwire about how to cope up weather changes in COVID times and said, “To keep our immunity strong during these times, taking Vitamin C is highly recommended as many people are already taking Vitamin C medicines along with hot lemon water. The viral infections taking place during this weather change can be reduced by taking Vitamin C.”
He continues, “The people who are sensitive to different weather changes should limit their exposures to different weather conditions, like avoid getting wet on rainy days or if you are asthma patient be aware of inhaling cold air. So taking personal and avoiding direct exposure to weather is very important, because if you are infected with any viral infection it reduces your immunity power and other infections can catch faster ”
