In a momentous achievement, India’s nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has successfully administered over 186.54 crore (1,86,54,94,355) vaccine doses, as indicated by provisional reports received until 7 am today. The nation’s resolve is evident through the staggering number of 2,27,52,392 vaccination sessions conducted across the country.
Expansion of Vaccination Drive to Adolescents and Precaution Doses
The comprehensive vaccination campaign in India extended its reach to adolescents aged 12-14 years, commencing on March 16, 2022. To date, more than 2.43 crore (2,43,55,282) adolescents have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, signifying the commitment to safeguarding the health of the younger population. Additionally, the administration of precaution doses for individuals aged 18-59 years was initiated on April 10, 2022, with 1,62,532 doses administered thus far.
Sharp Decline in Active COVID-19 Cases
India’s active COVID-19 caseload has substantially diminished, currently standing at a mere 11,542 cases. This impressive reduction positions active cases at a minimal 0.03% of the country’s total positive cases, reflecting the impactful strides in controlling the spread of the virus.
High Recovery Rate and Increased Testing Efforts
A testament to India’s resilient healthcare efforts, the country’s recovery rate thrives at an encouraging 98.76%. Over the last 24 hours, 1,985 patients have recuperated, adding to the cumulative tally of 4,25,10,773 recovered patients since the inception of the pandemic. Meanwhile, India’s commitment to rigorous testing persists, with 2,61,440 COVID-19 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, contributing to the overall count of over 83.21 crore (83,21,04,846) cumulative tests conducted.
