National Webinar on Organ and Tissue Transplantation Promotes Organ Donation Awareness

New Delhi, 23rd July 2023 – The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), in collaboration with the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, hosted a remarkable National Webinar on Organ and Tissue Donation during the Angdaan Mahotsav campaign. The event, held on 22nd July 2023, witnessed active participation from individuals across the country, making it a resounding success.

Empowering Medical Professionals and Students through Knowledge-Sharing

The National Webinar on Organ and Tissue Donation proved to be an enlightening platform for medical professionals, students, and stakeholders to acquire valuable insights from esteemed experts in the field of organ transplantation. Six engaging sessions were conducted, each focusing on critical aspects of organ and tissue donation, including Prevention of Kidney Diseases, Brain Stem Death Declaration, Deceased Donor Management, Prevention of Liver Diseases, Legal Aspects of Organ and Tissue Donation, and Eye Donation and Corneal Transplant.

Esteemed Experts and Professionals Lead the Informative Sessions

The webinar featured renowned medical experts such as Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, Professor and Head of the Department of Nephrology at AIIMS, Dr. Sandeep Vaishya, Executive Director – Neurosurgery at Fortis Hospital, Dr. Rahul Pandit, Consultant – Intensivist at Fortis Hospital, Dr. Akash Shukla, Professor and Head of Gastroenterology at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of NOTTO, and Dr. Radhika Tandon, Professor of Ophthalmology at AIIMS. Their contributions added immense value to the event and enhanced the participants’ understanding of organ and tissue transplantation.

Nationwide Virtual Participation Amplifies the Impact

Medical and paramedical professionals, students, and stakeholders from various Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisations (ROTTOs/SOTTOs), hospitals, and medical institutions joined the National Webinar virtually. The widespread participation demonstrated the growing awareness and commitment towards promoting organ donation in India.
