Summer is here with all its glory. With beach vacations and delicious summer fruits, this one season is full of fun and frolic. While we all get carried away in the sunny days and their warmth, we must not forget to take care of our skin. The sweat, dust, and dirt can be really harmful to the skin and if you are planning to flaunt your healthy and glowing skin while basking under the skim, it’s extremely important to know ins and outs of summer skincare.
Here are some dos and don’ts that you need to follow for healthy and glowing skin in the summer
Dos
Cover yourself with sunscreen
Sunscreens are not just for the face. You need to apply it to all the exposed areas of your body. Use a high SPF sunscreen for better protection and apply 20 minutes before you step out in the sun.
Wash your face twice
Humidity and sweat can make your pores clogged and result in acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. So, it is important to use a cleanser to keep your skin free from dirt and bacteria. Use a gentle cleanser that will help to maintain the skin’s pH balance in the morning and before you sleep.
Keep your makeup light
Using too much makeup can be bad for your skin especially during the summer as it tends to clog the pores. Go light on your makeup and use powder-based products to avoid excessive sweating. Also, make sure to remove the makeup thoroughly every night with the double-cleansing makeup.
Hydrate your skin
Hydrating your skin and body is quite important during the summer as otherwise, it can make your skin feel dry and dull. Use a gel-based moisturizer during the day which will be light on the skin, yet will provide hydration to the skin. During the night, using a water sleeping mask can be helpful for the skin’s nourishment. Moreover, using a sheet mask once a week is great for the skin as adds lots of moisture to the skin without making it greasy or oily.
Beat the heat with face masks
Sunburns and suntans are quite common during the summer season. However, using a few homemade face masks can keep all those skin issues at bay. Once a week, use a mixture of yogurt, gram flour, and turmeric face pack. It helps to lighten sun tan and gives a healthy glow to the skin. Sandalwood powder, raw milk, and vitamin E capsule also make for a great face pack to keep the skin calm and free from irritation or skin rashes.
Don’ts
Skip a lip balm
Use a lip balm with sun protection. Hyperpigmentation on the lips is very common due to the heat in the summer. So use a lip balm with a minimum of 20 SPF to protect your lips from the sun and from dryness.

Over exfoliate
Exfoliation is a necessary step in the skincare routine. However, many tend to over-exfoliate during summer to keep their skin extra clean and fresh. Use an exfoliator once a week to get rid of dead skin cells. Also, be very gentle on the skin to avoid micro tears.
Spend a lot of time in the shower
Taking long showers can be rejuvenating during summer. However, it can make the skin quite dry and leads to itchiness or dry patches. After showering, use a light lotion all over the body to keep it moisturized.
