We all want to be healthy. Don’t we? And most of us can go to any extent for this without even realizing that the direct key for healthy living is ‘eating healthy’. To inculcate these healthy cooking and eating habits, MasterChef Shipra Khanna recently released a book titled #HealthUnlimited. The book serves as an explainer for educating and empowering people on eating healthy and weight loss without compromising on any nutrition. HealtWire spoke to Shipra Khanna to know more about some healthy foods, changes in eating habits for a healthier life, and many more things. Here are excerpts:

Que: In this fast-paced world, where fast food has become a necessity, how a healthy food habit can be inculcated among people?

Ans: We as Indians love our mid-meal snacks, we can replace the fried snacks with roasted nuts and fruit instead!

Que: Please share some common eating habits that must be changed for a healthier life.

Ans: A shift from fried snacks to healthy ones like dry fruits/fresh fruits/salad etc is one major shift we need to do as we have amazing fried snacks in our country which are really tempting and MOU the altering but if we could only limit them and shift to healthier options it would a step in the right direction for #healthunlimited.

Que: Would you like to share any recipes with readers?

Ans: Recipe 1 – Turmeric Devilled Eggs

Ingredients
4 eggs
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
¼ tsp ground pepper
¼ tsp coriander powder
Red chilli powder for garnish
Water (to boil the eggs)
Method:
In a pot, take some water and boil the eggs and let them
cool down.
Peel the eggs and cut them open right from the centre.
Take the egg yolks out and mix them in with the
mayonnaise, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, coriander
powder, salt and pepper.
Put the mixture in a piping bag and pipe it into the egg
whites and garnish with a pinch of red chilli powder.

Recipe 2 – Ginger Banana Smoothie

Ingredients
1 banana
1 tbsp ginger, peeled
½ cup yoghurt
½ cup milk
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp honey
Few cubes of ice
Method:
In a blender, blend all of the above ingredients until
smooth.
Serve chilled in tall glasses.

Que: You served as an international ambassador for India and Culinary Connoisseur for Tourism Australia. How popular Indian cuisine is in that country?

Ans: Yes, it’s been an amazing journey so far and I really appreciate the exposure I’ve got in India and internationally in the culinary industry. Indeed Indian food is really very popular across the globe because of the immense variety and taste of course! From dosa to Butter chicken there’s so much that Indian food offers and internationally whoever has tasted it has loved it but of course with less chilly!

Que: We are amid the third wave of COVID-19, please tell us about some healthy foods to boost immunity.

Ans: Turmeric, Lemon, and Gooseberry are known for boosting immunity.
