Heat Wave In India: Heat waves are becoming common in several parts of India as the temperature during the day continues to rise. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the marginal heat wave conditions will persist for some days in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) for some days. Heat waves can impact our health significantly and therefore it is important to be extra careful during these days. Children and the elderly are among those who need to take all possible precautions. In such weather, it is very important to keep yourself hydrated.
Here we are going to tell you certain tips that will help you stay safe from heat-related problems:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water during summer as it will keep your body hydrated and cool. Drink around 8-10 glasses of water. Also, try to stay away from caffeine and alcohol as these can dehydrate you.
Dress Appropriately: Choose clothes lightly. Prefer lightweight, loose fitting and light coloured clothes. It is always better to use cotton and linen fabrics as they are breathable and keeps you cool.
Eat Light: Eating light will keep you active. Also, include salads, leafy vegetables and fruits in your meal. They are not just hydrating but easily digestible. Too heavy foods can harm your health as they can disturb your digestive system and can make you feel sluggish. Too much spice during this season can also result in pimples.
Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated about the weather forecast as it can help you prepare for heat warnings in your area. Take a water bottle with you in such weather and if possible avoid going outside. If there is no way to avoid going outside, use caps, umbrellas, and cotton towels to keep yourself safe from direct sunlight.
Take Cold Showers Or Baths: It is always better to take a cold shower or bath at least twice a day during summer. But make sure that rest for at least 15-20 mins when coming from outside before taking bath.
